| MassMutual's San Francisco Bay Area Agency Scores Chairman's Trophy for Fifth Time
The MassMutual Financial Group has announced that the San Francisco Bay Area Agency, under the leadership of General Agent Robert Fakhimi, has earned a fifth Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company's (MassMutual) National Chairman's Trophy. Fakhimi's agency received the award for performance in 2007; the fifth time the San Francisco agency received the award in the last six years. MassMutual has an extensive field force of more than 4,000 agents in its 84 agencies. The award is a reflection of an agency's accomplishments in revenue growth, recruitment and productivity. Tisbury voters face $19-million warrant
Tisbury voters will take action on a fiscal year 2009 operating budget up 7.6 percent over last year and an annual town meeting warrant with 44 articles on April 1 - no fooling. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm Tuesday in the Tisbury School gymnasium. Included on the warrant are two debt exclusion items and seven capital appropriation items, as well as articles to appropriate money from the town's passenger ferry embarkation fee revenues and Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds. The town's proposed fiscal year 2009 (FY09) $19.8 million operating budget represents about a 7.6 percent increase, or $1.4 million, over FY08. Taxes are projected to generate about $16.8 million for the town in FY09, according to Tisbury tax collector and treasurer Tim McLean. Assuming voters approve all of the articles that will utilize the town's unreserved fund balance, or "free cash," including $1.1 million to reduce the tax rate, Mr.
BNH profit surges 12pc despite tough competition
MANAMA: Last year was one of the best years for the Bahrain National Holdings (BNH) in spite of the fact that the insurance industry witnessed an increased rate of competition at the local and regional levels. BNH successfully achieved its planned objectives for last year, chairman Ali Hussain Yateem told shareholders at the company's annual general meeting at its headquarters in Seef yesterday. These included the enhancement of growth rate in written premiums, profitability and expansion of the company's business activities locally and regionally. He said the company was able to achieve a substantial growth in the insurance and investment businesses and will pursue achieving even better growth to increase return on equity in the future and provide unique services to its customers.
